Betta native to Malaysia. Found in shaded peat swamp forest waters in slow shallow flow along vegetated banks over leaf litter. Males build bubble nests. It prefers blackwater environments and should have soft acidic water that is well filtered. They should be kept at temperatures in the mid 70s F. Pairs can be housed in a 5 gallon tank, while groups should be housed in a 20 gallon tank or larger. Pairs should be given cover such as caves and plants.
