Description

Betta hipposideros is native to both mainland Malaysia and a small area on the island of Sumatra, Indonesia. It is found in peat swamp backwaters with leaf litter and peat substrate. It is a paternal mouthbrooder that prefers soft acidic water that is well filtered. They should be kept at temperatures in the mid 70s F. Pairs can be housed in a 20 gallon tank, whle groups should be housed in a 55 gallon tank or larger. Pairs should be given cover such as caves and plants.
