CARES Species Profile:  Betta fusca

Description

Betta fusca is native to the northern region of the island of Sumatra in Indonesia. It is a paternal mouthbrooder that incubates from 12 to 18 days with 14 days being very consistent. It is very tolerant of water chemistry and should be kept at temperatures cool to mid 70s F. Pairs can be housed in a 10 gallon tank, while groups should be housed in a 30 gallon tank or larger. Pairs should be given cover such as caves and plants.
