Betta native to Malaysia. Found in shallow peat swamps over peat and leaf litter. It is a paternal mouthbrooder that prefers soft acidic water that is well filtered. They should be kept at temperatures in the mid 70s F. Pairs can be housed in a 10 gallon tank, while groups should be housed in a 55 gallon tank or larger. Pairs should be given cover such as caves and plants.
