Betta native to Indonesia. Found in shallow forest streams with brown acidic water, sheltering among leaf litter and plant roots. Paternal mouthbrooder with the male incubating from 10 to 15 days with 12 days being very consistent. It is very tolerant of water chemistry and thrives in almost any type of water as long as it is clean. Pairs can be housed in a 10 gallon tank, while groups should be housed in a 20 gallon tank or larger and given cover such as caves and plants.
