Description

Betta native to Indonesia and Malaysia. Found in very shallow peat swamp forest waters. It favors blackwater environments and should have soft acidic water that is well filtered. They should be kept at temperatures from cool to mid 70s F. Pairs can be housed in a 5 gallon tank, while groups should be housed in a 20 gallon tank or larger. Pairs should be given cover such as caves and plants. The species is a 'switch hitter' which can mouthbrood or bubblenest.
