Description

Native to the Upper Rio Purificacion and Marabasco basins in Mexico, Xenotaenia resolanae is a livebearer inhabiting streams. It prefers warm, hard, slow-moving water. This is an omnivore with a diet that consists of plant material and small amounts of protein, leaning more to plant than protein. Examples of foods to feed include spirulina algae, blanched vegetables, nori, live baby brine shrimp and freeze-dried daphnia.
