Description

Native to the Upper Rio Mezquital and Tunal River drainage in Mexico, Characodon audax is a livebearer inhabiting springs. It prefers cool to warm, hard, slow-moving water. This is an omnivore with a diet that consists of a balance of plant material and protein, however, it can tolerate a little more protein than some other species. Examples of foods to feed include spirulina algae, blanched vegetables, nori, live baby brine shrimp and freeze-dried daphnia.
