Description

The Barred Splitfin is native to Lake Chapala and the Lower Rio Lerma Basin in Mexico. It is a livebearer inhabiting streams, lakes, and springs. It prefers cool to warm, hard, slow moving water and is an omnivore feeding primarily on algae, detritus, and some invertebrates.
