Breeder Award Program

** Beta Feature **

AquaristSpecies.net supports now local club Breeder Award Programs (BAP) with improved recognition for breeding CARES species.

Site-hosted BAP Programs feature traditional 1st time species breeder points while also supporting CARES Species Multipliers and CARES Species Maintenance points which multiply each year encouraging long-term maintenance of endangered or rare species.

To enable this feature:

  • Find and join your club from the Aquarist Clubs list.
  • If your club is not listed it can be added by an admin. Please submit a request to our Site Admin

Once you have joined your club on AquaristSpecies.net you can participate in your club's BAP program:

  • List your breeding species on your 'Fishroom Page' by Searching Species and choosing I keep this fish!
  • As a best practice, add a photo of the parents for each of your breeding species.
  • Edit your Aquarist Species and check the 'have spawned' and 'have reared fry' options
  • Click the 'BAP Submission' button that appears at the bottom of each of these Aquarist Species pages.

Note that the BAP Submission button appears for species you mark as having 'fry available'. Once you submit your BAP request, it must be approved by your Club BAP Admin. Only a single request may be submitted per species each year.

The BAP feature will evolve as clubs are added based on feedback from Aquarists and Admins. In its current form your club may choose to support CARES Species point multipliers for first time breeding submissions and enable Species Maintenance points for long term maintenance of CARES species or other rare or hard to find species.
